60 days at sea 1783 (detail)

Narrative of Oladuah Equiano was 1783, although not in my forethought while working and creating the arbitrarily chosen date. 60 days at sea was the average amount of time it took a slave ship from West Africa to the Caribbean and US. 1783 marked the ending of the slave trade as a capitalist enterprise, although it lingered on even until the 1880s in Brazil.
